FAQ

Find quick answers about setup, adjustment, compatibility, and troubleshooting.

Getting Started
  • PatioDrip™ is a simple, mechanical watering system for hanging baskets. It helps maintain consistent moisture without batteries, timers, or apps

  • No. The system is purely mechanical. Water flow is regulated by the setup and adjustment you make.

  • Most customers finish setup in about 5–10 minutes, especially if the faucet/connector is already accessible.

Setup & Adjustment
  • Use a standard outdoor faucet or garden spigot with a gentle, steady flow. Avoid extremely high pressure or uncontrolled flow.

  • Start with a very gentle drip. After the basket is watered and becomes heavier, the flow should reduce/stop as designed. Fine-tune slowly—small adjustments make a big difference.

  • A good setup typically looks like this:

    1. Initial drip wets the basket.

    2. As the basket becomes heavier, the flow reduces.

    3. As the basket dries and becomes lighter, flow resumes.

  • No. After a proper initial setup, most users only make occasional small adjustments (for weather changes, plant growth, or seasonal conditions).

Compatibility
  • It works best with outdoor hanging baskets that have drainage holes and standard potting mix. If your basket has no drainage, the system may not perform as intended.

  • It’s designed for typical hanging baskets. Very small or very large/heavy planters may require extra attention during setup and calibration.

  • It’s primarily intended for outdoor use. If used indoors, place the basket in a tray/saucer and monitor closely to avoid water damage

Troubleshooting
  • Reduce the drip rate and confirm the basket can drain properly. Overwatering is usually caused by too much inlet flow or poor drainage.

  • It’s designed for typical hanging baskets. Very small or very large/heavy planters may require extra attention during setup and calibration.

  • Increase the drip rate slightly and confirm that water is reaching the basket (no kinks, clogs, or loose connections).

  • This is often caused by changing faucet pressure, temperature swings, or basket weight changes. Start with a gentler base flow and adjust in small increments.

Care & Seasonal Use
  • Minimal maintenance is required. If you notice reduced flow, check for debris, kinks, or mineral buildup and rinse components if needed.

  • We recommend caution. Some fertilizers can cause buildup or clogging. If you choose to use nutrients, flush with clean water regularly.

  • Disconnect and drain the system to prevent freeze damage. Store components indoors during freezing conditions.

  • Yes, when set to a gentle, steady drip. Always start conservatively and adjust slowly.
